West Seattle MCM

This midcentury home was transformed through a comprehensive remodel that included modernizing the interior with a spacious galley kitchen for enhanced water views, updated bathrooms, and a redesigned deck that better connects the home to its outdoor surroundings.

This West Seattle midcentury home underwent a complete gut remodel to update both the floor plan and finishes, providing a clean, modern aesthetic while maximizing its stunning water views. The exterior transformation began with new siding for a refreshed appearance, and a new deck and railing. Inside, the entryway was revitalized by replacing the old stone flooring with new hardwood floors, introducing a contemporary wood slat railing and adding a coordinating privacy wall between the hallway and dining room. A new built-in closet in the entry not only provides practical storage but also creates a distinct foyer, setting a clear separation from the living room.

The home's layout was opened up by removing the wall between the dining room and the kitchen, allowing unobstructed views throughout the kitchen/living area. The kitchen itself was transformed from a cramped corner into a spacious room with a large island, featuring sleek materials and a striking contrast between black and light wood cabinetry complemented by matte black hardware. This expansion was facilitated by repurposing an underused breakfast nook into additional kitchen space, optimizing the area with hidden appliances for a streamlined look.

Throughout the house, lighting fixtures were updated to modern styles, and both bathrooms were completely renovated. The hallway bathroom now features light, bright materials and playful tile patterns with a new dual vanity, while the primary bathroom has been modernized with a large walk-in shower and a new window to enhance its airy feel.

Outside, the back deck was redesigned from a chunky, oddly shaped wooden structure to a more geometrically pleasing space with clean steel and cable railings and a new staircase. This not only improved access to the yard but also aligned with the home's sleek aesthetic, making the most of the breathtaking views.
