Little remains of the original residence beyond the footprint for this remodel and second-story addition. What was once a series of small, dark, and closed-off rooms was transformed into an open, light-filled main level designed to encourage interaction and gathering. A clean, modern palette and simplified detailing create a calm backdrop while allowing natural light and spatial openness to define the experience of the home.
Bringing daylight deep into the interior was a driving force behind many design decisions. The new second story introduces a shed roof that allows for tall vaulted ceilings with skylights throughout, increasing both natural light and ventilation across the home. The main level was completely reimagined through a full interior gut and relocation of the stair from the back of the house to a central position. This new organization improves circulation and creates a more intuitive flow between living spaces, aligning the home’s layout with the homeowner’s lifestyle while reinforcing the bright, open character of the design.
