Dough Zone
Located on the recently renovated Harbor Steps, the newest Seattle location of popular Chinese dumpling restaurant Dough Zone, embraces texture and pattern while remaining true to the minimalist style they are known for.

Moving into a space previously occupied by a furniture showroom, there were some serious gymnastics required to make their concept work in this iconic Seattle structure. The kitchen was designed from scratch, including a hood vent that snakes up and around the outside of the building, hidden from view from tourists and residents alike. Inside, the space takes inspiration from Dough Zone's ubiquitous bamboo steamer baskets. Custom metal screens harken to the woven pattern of the bamboo baskets.

The woven pattern is repeated in a variety of ways, including a basketweave tile pattern in the bathrooms and bar front. Concrete panels above the banquettes reflect the same angled patterns, while adding a minimal and industrial look to the space. Light woods, steel table and chair bases, and oversized edison bulbs complete that refined industrial look.
