Built into the hillside, this new detached garage addition minimizes the land use, creating more yard space. Additionally, the staggered hillside build allows some of the lower level to be exposed to the natural light and fresh air. The back of the garage reaches the street level for car access and the stucco, used as a decorative coating, acts as a very durable yet attractive way to frame the garage door with its warm tones and textured look.
Although there are visible differences between the garage and the owner's’ main home, the garage was built to mirror the overall look of the existing main house. The similarities include a rounded roof and the same materials used to visually separate the differing floors. The garage imitates the main home’s colors, especially in the framing of doors and windows.
