Rione XIII Capitol Hill, Seattle, WA Hospitality
We assisted project architect Amoreena Miller of Strata Architects with the design & detailing of Chef Ethan Stowell's Roman Trattoria in Capitol Hill. Specifically, we designed the booths, banquette, and cabinetry, and we coordinated their fabrication. The space itself features exposed brick walls, heavy timber ceilings, and a wall of reclaimed wood windows offering a view of Ethan's neighbor, Wandering Goose. We felt that a palette of warm wood and blackened steel would fit nicely in the space, so the design of our 2-person booths and banquette seating featured these materials.
As is common in many restaurant projects we work on, the existing space is fairly narrow, so the frame of the booths was minimized in order to allow maximum room for circulation around it. It also serves as a required physical barrier and visual screen between the bar and dining areas.
