Chef Manu Alfau had already established a presence in the Seattle culinary scene, hosting pop-ups before he acquired this space in Pioneer Square. We wanted to design a space that would adequately display his colorful Dominican background and the bold flavor of his food that Seattle had already grown to love. Although the space is fairly small, the bold colors and distinctive signage fully embody the character of the restaurant. The combination of delicious food and decor will have you believing you have been transported out of Pioneer Square and to a real Dominican Bodega, proving bigger is not always better.

We knew Manu's Bodega would quickly become one of Seattle's dining gems, so designed an aesthetic, filled with plenty of colors and fun details like a blackboard display. Even in the dead of Seattle winter, La Bodega is sure to remind you of the tropical island of the Dominican Republic. The details of the restaurant were chosen with the same meticulous care Chef Manu puts into creating each one of his dishes. The shelving units behind the counter are both functional and attractive, showing off his high quality ingredients. The sleek light fixtures illuminate the restaurant with a glow that mimics the Dominican sun, a treat for Seattle residents accustomed to the cold, gray weather.
