Lake Washington Home Seattle, WA Residential
Located on beautiful Lake Washington, the design of this modern home utilizes color and pattern to help distinguish the different modulations in form. The large amounts of glazing provide views of the lake from all rooms. Inside the house, windows extend from floor to ceiling in order to maximize natural light and the prospect for views. Even when inside, residents can feel as though they are out on the lake. The interior finishes have been kept spare, as the lake itself is the greatest source or sparkle and color. A modern steel stair runs through the center of the house. It features wood treads spanning between steel channels. Steel rods are provided instead of the standard cable rail, making it more modern and aesthetically pleasing. The light hardwood treads separate the stair from the dark hardwood floors of the main sections of the house.
Upstairs, the black and white bathroom is open to the master suite, stairwell, exercise room, as well as the deck and view beyond. A freestanding tub allows the homeowners to sit and enjoy the view during a soak. The entire house opens onto the lake. The new house utilizes an existing footprint, stepping back as required by current regulations. The center red section identifies the circulation, with a stair traveling from top to bottom. Although the house faces east, it is filled with light all day long due to the reflection off of the lake - a truly spectacular place to spend the day.
