Henry Walters, AIA
Principal Architect, Co-Owner of Atelier Drome

For Henry Walters, it was a childhood growing up in Eagle River, Alaska, that forged an appreciation of how people build and situate themselves on the land –– how do they create spaces and bring structure to the chaos of nature and the needs of a community? This combination of appreciation for order, the creative process, and a naturally collaborative spirit guided Walters to be an architect. In following his passion, he attended the University of Idaho and earned his B.Arch and ultimately started his own design studio in 2005 after tenures working with award-winning firms in the Seattle area. He joined his practice with Michelle Linden to launch Atelier Drome in 2012 and the firm has since gone on to feature a wide-ranging portfolio that encompasses designs for hospitality, residential, and commercial spaces. Every project is viewed in its core human element –– the driving passion behind everything informing Walters’s aesthetic and process. “I enjoy listening to the needs of a client, both pragmatic and esoteric, and creating a space that functions beautifully for them on many levels while also existing as an expression of themselves.” Henry Walters is also AIA accredited, sits on the Board of Trustees for Arcade Magazine and enjoys spending his free time taking road trips back to his native Alaska.
