Greenlake Remodel Greenlake, Seattle, WA Residential
This craftsman was lovingly cared for before it was remodeled, and the owners didn't want to lose sight of the original charm. Although the house was significantly expanded to the back and increased in height on the second floor, the way the house steps back, it is allowed to maintain its modest, yet cheery frontage.
The open kitchen is adjacent to the family room, making it one of the most social spaces in the house. It's a warm and inviting environment that helps encourages the whole family to interact. Small details, like the mosaic tile back splash personalize the kitchen to the owners' tastes. White dominates the new kitchen, making this already well-lit space appear even brighter. The open design is great for making cooking a fun activity instead of just a necessary chore.
Entertaining is a breeze in the new family room. There is plenty of open space and the couches and window seats ensure everyone has a place to sit and relax. The mudroom was added to provide extra storage space, reduce clutter, and create a buffered connection between outdoors and in. By opening up the living room and the dining area, the entire house feels more cohesive, making time at home a more enjoyable experience for all. The sophisticated colors of the living room keep it looking stylish without having to sacrifice comfort or coziness. Throughout the rest of the house, personal touches like guitar hooks on the wall and bold paint choices give each individual room it's own character, while still fitting into the general concept of the redesign.
