Flatstick Pub II Pioneer Square, Seattle, WA Hospitality
A little over a year after opening their original location in Kirkland, we teamed up with the owners of Flatstick Pub to expand their business into Seattle, in a historic underground space, located in Pioneer Square. Atelier Drome collaborated with the owners to reimagine a space that fit the Flatstick Brand, while incorporating the historic charm of the existing space. A central bar in the space features over 30 local beers and ciders on tap. At the upper level, upon first entering the bar, there is an abundance of tables and chairs, providing ample space to enjoy a drink; whether that be a private date at the 2-top booths, or a larger part at the big communal table.
At the lower level, the majority of the space is devoted to mini golf, with holes organized to spell out "SEATTLE," and one that is a 12' tall replica of the Space Needle. We incorporated semi-private party rooms as well, where guests can gather around the specific game-based themes in smaller groups. The rooms include a theater room for game watching or game playing on a large screen TV, a "board room" for board games, and even custom games that involve RC cards and shooting at targets.
The bar tops were made from 1/2" steel plates which, paired with wood plank wall coverings and plumbing pipe foot rails, play perfectly into the industrial-rustic character of the original building. Working with the exposed structure and existing piping conduit, all of the new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing elements are exposed overhead, creating a ceiling busy with new and old metal elements. Artist Ryan Ward, perhaps more commonly known around town as "Henry" was commissioned to paint murals all around the exterior walls, featuring his signature bright-colored caricatures.
